Learn to Make Your Own FELT Hat with Heirloom Hats!
Join me, Samantha, designer and owner of Heirloom Hats, for a hands-on felt hat making workshop and walk away with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind hat you made yourself!
This is an 8 hour workshop that takes place over two sessions on the weekend of October 3rd and 4th. The first session runs Saturday, October 3rd from 10am to 2pm, and the second runs Sunday, October 4th from 10am to 2pm, both held at my studio at 9200 Rue Meilleur. Attendance on both days is required to complete your hat.
You’ll arrive with an inspiration image of the felt hat you’ve been dreaming of making, your starting point for a truly personal piece. Prior to the workshop, I’ll reach out to gather your reference image and preferred shape so I can thoughtfully prepare the appropriate blocks and materials ahead of time.
Each participant creates something entirely unique; no two hats will be alike. I’ll guide you in selecting from a curated range of wool felt capelines or hoods, available in a variety of rich colour options, and provide the hat blocks needed to achieve your desired form, all tailored to your exact head size.
With a maximum of 8 participants, you'll receive personalized guidance throughout the process, so whether your skills are beginner or advanced, you'll have everything you need to create your perfect hat. No sewing experience is necessary, though it's always a bonus!

- A felt capeline or hood of your choice (based on the hat shape you'd like to make)
- Grosgrain ribbon and thread
- A wooden hat block for use throughout the class
- A stitch guide
- A complete supplier list for sourcing raw materials
